Objective
To create a web application that captures the essence and aesthetic of the Web3 ecosystem, providing users with an authentic decentralized finance (DeFi) experience. The primary objective was to integrate live cryptocurrency data, displaying real-time coin values and market information directly within the application. The project aimed to familiarize with Web3 technologies and design patterns, creating an interface that feels native to the blockchain and cryptocurrency space while demonstrating the ability to work with live financial data APIs.

Challenge
The primary challenge was integrating a cryptocurrency API to fetch and display live coin values in real-time. This involved understanding how to make API calls to cryptocurrency data providers, parsing the response to extract relevant pricing information, and updating the display as market values fluctuated. Ensuring the data remained current while managing API rate limits required thoughtful implementation of data fetching strategies.
Creating an authentic Web3 aesthetic required research into the visual language and design patterns commonly used in DeFi applications. The challenge was capturing that distinctive blockchain/crypto feel—incorporating elements like gradient backgrounds, glassmorphism effects, and typography choices that resonate with the Web3 community. Using React and TailwindCSS, the design needed to balance modern Web3 trends with usability and readability, especially when displaying financial data.
Displaying financial data accurately and responsibly was an important consideration. The challenge involved formatting cryptocurrency values correctly—handling decimal places, currency symbols, and percentage changes in a way that was both visually clear and mathematically accurate. Creating components that could display various types of market data (prices, market caps, volume) in an organized, readable format required attention to detail in both the data handling and UI presentation.
